Five for Friday 412

Welcome to Friday,

This week has been full of planting flowers outside, and adding some indoors, as well; reading; and long evening walks enjoying the warmer weather. Those warmer walks are even sweeter since we’re expecting snow this weekend.

Here are the links I’ll be curling up with as spring continues her erratic entrance:

James Cook’s astonishment at the spread of language.

On the history of the phrase “the black dog ,” most famously associated with Winston Churchill.

A look at filler words and the Sounds Our Thoughts Make.

Does it help to know history?

Seth Godin on the Power of TK.

Currently reading: The Moviegoer by Walker Percy

Have a creative weekend.
