Five for Friday 113

Happy Weekend!

Another beautiful, accomplished week is done. I’ve been shuffling pans, sugar and lemon juice all week in a quest to perfect my lemon buttercream recipe. Happily, progress was made and we have pans of cupcakes to show for it. Our plans for the weekend include rest, cupcake munching, and seeing one major movie, more on that below.

Here are five things I’ll be up to this weekend:

Enjoying this cartoon depicting the recalcitrant Facebook algorithm, as well as this piece outlining the frustrations with said algorithm.

Speaking of numbers, this weekend, the world waits to see whether Avengers: Endgame will break all the box office records. Though I would characterize us as casual Marvel fans, my husband and I have been tracking the numbers leading up to this weekend, checking on sold-out status’ of area theaters – some folks are buying tickets for four showings this weekend! – , and generally bouncing through daily chores as we await the largest movie event in history.

Reading this chilling piece on dental fraud. Any sort of deception about the health and invading the body is especially egregious.

Seeing the beauty and softness of wisteria around town, which has led me to seek out the plant’shistory.

Lastly, in our weird and wacky world where people fly unmanned objects seemingly without regard for others‘ privacy, a case for drone owners’ privacy.
