Five for Friday 351

Happy Friday,

The final week of the year is one of my favorite aspects of the holidays. Most of the bustle has passed, but you still have Christmas cookies to munch on and the glow of the Christmas tree adding sparkle to the evenings. The leisurely combination of daily habits and no real obligations marking this particular week is a major recharge time for me. I’ve been reading more books and surfing fewer links, but I still have a few excellent recommendations for you.

The best of the internet this week:

N.S. Lyons on why Inquiry is worthy of our best efforts.

Commitment is underrated, yet required for any deeply meaningful and enduring success. Compound benefits only occur with a time commitment.

Edgar Allen Poe needs a friend.

How the ski town of Crested Butte has been battered by inflated housing prices, worker shortages, and a pandemic, and what the locals are doing to save their town. An ingenious set of deed restrictions might hold one solution.

Happy New Year and have a lovely weekend.
