Five for Friday 600

Welcome to the first Friday of 2024,

Here are five things I thought worth sharing this week.

“Spend more time thinking about what to concentrate your efforts on.” What a beautiful essay, weaving in mental models and practical advice, while telling a moving story.

Director Steven Soderburg’s extensive list of movies, series, and books viewed in 2023.

I enjoyed this essay on the rituals and joys of reading print publications. In the same vein, I’ve been opting for the print + digital option recently on my subscriptions, and savor ending the day on the couch with a print magazine and mug of tea. There is something so satisfying about reading deeper analysis of a topic you would not normally seek out, but the editorial process of the publication means everything in there is of quality.

LitHub lists the best book reviews of 2023.

Lastly, what an incredible photograph!
