Five for Friday 246

Welcome to Friday,

Perhaps it’s due to the colder weather, but I’ve been rising earlier the past couple of weeks. Coffee mug steaming, Leaves of Grass cracked open, and the thump – thumping of pinecones falling off the trees and dropping onto the roof – not a bad start to these chilly mornings.

As we move closer to the holidays, let us remember all our futures are tied together with one another. As Whitman wrote, “Here is not merely a nation, but a teeming nation of nations.” We individually have before us the opportunity to put our time toward something greater than simply trying to stay healthy. We have the opportunity for reflection and mindful improvement. When individuals take the time to improve themselves and their inputs – when you and I improve the choices you and I make – these improvements, in turn, influence those around us. We are single individuals who together make up a single nation. It’s time we acted like it.

Here is what I’ll be reading this weekend:

A fascinating suggestion, especially during a pandemic – Digital Parks.

All our recipes are passed down from somebody’s grandma.

The Science of Wisdom.

How possibly fraudulent Indigenous paintings from Texas ended up in museums in Wyoming.

Comfort foods born from uncomfortable times.

Currently reading: Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman

Wishing you a lovely weekend.
