Five for Friday 206

Happy Friday and Happy Valentine’s Day,

This week has been full of changes. Changing my writing routine, changing my weekly schedule, changing how I certain historical figures. It’s been a week of learning and growing. I’m excited to see what the next few months hold.

Here is what I’m reading:

I read about the Vanderbilt family last weekend, and discovered the amazing Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. A prominent figure at the turn of the century, she was a sculptor; her memorial sculptures can be found across the country. She also founded the Whitney Museum of American Art after the MET and MoMA refused her donation of pieces by American artists, as they then were focused on European art.

On punctuation marks, then and now.

This beautiful photo of the moon from ameteur photographer Andrew McCarthy.

This post about internal monologues.

Finally, (finally), a good internet mire: this searchable database of old book illustrations.

Currently Reading: Thomas Jefferson: An Intimate History by Fawn Brodie

Have a lovely weekend!
