Five for Friday 103

This week has flown by for me, despite the gloomy weather. Best wishes for a beautiful weekend! Here is what I’m looking at this weekend:

First, a friendly reminder by way of this chilling piece to keep all your passwords unique and secure!

Valentine’s Day weekend is upon us and experts are estimating Americans will spend $20.7 billion on the holiday. These numbers shock me. How is this possible? That is an especially outrageous number considering only half of us celebrate the day.

A charming profile of Ernest Hemingway from 1950 in The New Yorker. Hemingway is my favorite writer and his Farewell to Arms is my favorite novel. It broke my heart and I was hooked.

I am so excited to dive into this book from the copy chief at Random House. Mr. Dreyer’s writing is helpful and delightfully witty, and I am sure his book will be no exception!

On a similar note, after recently watching Vox’s exclamation point episode on Netflix, I find myself editing out {nearly} all the exclamation points! What to do? The Vox article contains links to wealth of information and history, should linguistics strike your fancy.

I’d love to take advantage of the winter citrus and make this Pink Grapefruit Yogurt Cake this weekend. I love the brightness of lemon but haven’t tried a grapefruit cake. Must rectify that!

Currently reading: Selected stories from H.P. Lovecraft’s Complete Works (Apple Books edition)

Happy weekend!
