Welcome to the weekend,

Here are five things I thought worth sharing this week.

An important look at how online opt-in polls produce misleading results, and why that matters. Basically, these optional online polls skew young and toward minorities, many responders provide ‘bogus’ answers, and resulting polls yield inaccurate and wildly abnormal results. Then, those inaccurate results get reported in the media, fueling the spread of those inaccuracies.

“Italy never does things by halves.” The spirit of perfection is alive and well in Italian artisanship.

I enjoyed this charming account of backyard bird-watching. Can you imagine feeding hummingbirds by hand?!
