Five for Friday 636

Welcome to the weekend,

A selection of what I’ve been reading recently:

How does one organize 3,000 books? (Or, a home library to drool over).

In this week’s long read, Henry Oliver writes about Dwight Eisenhower and waiting your way to the top. Eisenhower fascinates me as an example of someone who’s reading life paved the way for his leadership and expertise to be used as a massive influence for good.

A delightful cornucopia and celebration of note-taking; the anniversary edition of Noted by Jillian Hess.

“Our meditation apps might become redundant if we spend half an hour a day actually making something.” I found this essay on the modern ‘smart home’ and general incursion of devices into human space and creativity a breath of fresh air.

I found this chronological list of composers immensely helpful for tracking down who was producing music at a specific time. It is extensive and runs from the 11th century through today. When I read around a specific point in history, I often listen to composers from that period as well, to get the “feel” for the time; this will make finding just the right name a much quicker process.

Currently reading: The October Country: Stories by Ray Bradbury

Have a creative weekend.
