Five for Friday 409

Welcome to Friday,

Here’s what I’d like to share this week.

“Many who today hear me somewhere in person, or on television, or those who read something I’ve said, will think I went to school far beyond the eighth grade. This impression is due entirely to my prison studies.”
From Malcolm X on how he learned to read.

A look back at when Daylight Savings Time was permanent. As it turns out, having more daylight during the day is better for the economy and safer for more people.

I always enjoy Arthur C. Brooks’ monthly Atlantic column on building a happy life. Here is his latest

Civil War writer Shelby Foote’s interview with The Paris Review. I debated whether to call him a historian, but he answers that in said interview.

The beautiful street art of Angoulême, France.

Have a wonderful weekend.
