Welcome to Friday,
It’s been another quick week around these parts – full days of writing and juggling running a household along with the usual errands and maintenance. I’m looking forward to visiting with family and spending a few hours reading.
Here’s what I’d like to share with you this week:
“Cheese is one of the 5 things the Western book as we know it depends on. The other four are snails, Jesus, underwear and spectacles.”

How to Practice Paying Attention.
C.S. Lewis on why students and laymen should read primary sources, and not settle for secondary sources – where available, of course. His argument is first-hand knowledge is a richer source than second-hand, and second-hand information shouldn’t supplant first-hand. In addition, there is so much to be discovered about one’s own time by reading books from the distant past.
“Disruptive technologies are dismissed as toys because when they are first launched they “undershoot” user needs.”
Currently reading: “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving
Have a great weekend.
