Five for Friday 241

Welcome to another fine Friday,

This week, I threw on a sweater and made my favorite cold-weather soup, this Spicy Peanut and Sweet Potato deliciousness, via my sweet friend Laci. It hit all the right notes. I even wore boots to the grocery store, since that is literally the only place I’ve been outside my home since March. It’s the little things.

Here’s this weekend’s links:

Learning how to breathe; a fascinating and moving history of how ventilators came into existence.

The Million-Dollar rebrand that lasted six days. This could also be titled, “How Not to Do a Re-Brand Campaign.”

Does reading out loud make a difference? This is an interesting look at how literature has been taught over the centuries (!) in Britain.

A history of “going postal.” This two-part series was equal parts frustrating, and enlightening.

This rollicking Eater article searching for the locations of by-gone fast-food buffets. It’s laugh-out-loud funny, as evidenced by my reading of random lines out to my husband, who laughed and nodded approvingly.

Currently reading: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving

Have the best weekend.
