Five for Friday 700

Happy New Year,

Here are five things I thought worth sharing this week.

What an example of a human being. This week, Nobel-winner, public health advocate, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and U.S. President Jimmy Carter died this week, at age 100.

A new year means a new list of works entering the U.S. public domain. Among this year’s literary works are Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms, Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own, and Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury.

How quaint is this beautiful Swiss hotel, which is cut off from the rest of the world for ten hours each day?

A rare look inside Zildihjan, the 400-year-old cymbal company.

For the uninitiated, it’s not the heat and it’s not the wind that will leave dog and man alike yelping in pain in the expanses of west Texas – it’s the goathead burrs.

Currently (re-)reading: The Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis

Have a creative weekend.
