Happy Friday,
Welcome to this week’s edition of Five for Friday.
Off we go, with five surprising and inspiring links from around the Web to dive into this weekend.
“Happy Birthday, Well Tempered Clavier“.
“From this angle, the additive war memorial is the most telling monument of our times, a confession of the violent pathology of modernity and the nearly comical, but in fact tragic, inability to face it in a mature manner.”
Five more boxes of Hegel’s notes were recently discovered, including what appears to be an unfinished lecture on aesthetics.
Erik Hoel’s essay on “Karens and the Nature of Evil” was entertaining and instructive, prompting some reflection; but the structure was the star. We are treated to scares and delights, indignation, and conclusions, all while contemplating the fact that what we call ‘evil’ is usually a corruption of some good. Highly recommended.
On Separating the Real from the Nonsense, or “How to Become a Great Physicist“.

Have a wonderful weekend.
