Five for Friday 234

Welcome to Friday,

Summer is slowly fading – can you believe we are at the end of August? I’ll certainly take the cooler, breezy temps we’ve seen this week. Looking back over the past five months, I can say I’m proud of how I spent my time. Most of it has been reading or talking with family, which is exactly what I wrote about in this week’s essay. We can’t control what goes on in the world, but we can control how we respond to it.

Here are this weekend’s links:

The controversial, question-posing poet Xenophanes.

The world’s largest watercolor painting.

Are we witnessing the end of an ancient religion?

The Other Kellog.

Finally, Champagne is losing out on the pandemic alcohol boom, and grape growers are not happy.

Have a lovely weekend!
