Welcome to the weekend,

Let me be the first to welcome you to the holiday season, as well. We are in full holiday preparation mode, getting ready for Thanksgiving. Lots of post-its, lists, and diagrams of pans and dishes to make sure we have the right equipment to actually prepare and serve Thanksgiving dinner. This week’s links are a mix of looking to the past and the future:

Microsoft Japan switched to a four day work week. Sales went up by 40%. The company paid their employees to take off Fridays. This is significant because it speaks to the very real need for balance between work and rest; it’s exciting because it shows a very real path into the future.

What would happen if the Internet went down forever?

This weekend marks the release of Tom Hanks as the kind and inspiring Fred Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which I’m hearing is a masterpiece.
